One Dollar. One Professional Mentalism Secret.

The Wonder: You write the names of five or six people, one of them dead, on your own paper with your own pencil on your own desk. You then fold each name into a small square or roll it into a little paper ball. Then, you mix up the papers so you don’t know what name is on each. You place the papers in a wine glass and hold them under the table.

Doctor Schoeelinger then stands with his hand above the table as he goes into a light trance; he instructs you to throw one paper at a time onto the table; he then suddenly announces, "The Spirits wish to communicate to you that this is the dead name." You open the paper, and it’s indeed the dead name! The doctor then says: “Keep the name a secret, hide it in your pocket.” The doctor places his hand above your head and “asks the spirits” for the name and again succeeds by spelling letter by letter the name.

He then asks you, “If I tell you where this person died and the disease he died of, will you be convinced?”. You agree, and the doctor proceeds to reveal the exact place and cause of death. He is exhausted and excuses himself out of the room.

That is the brain-crippling effect on the audience! Of course, what actually happens is different, but the audience is none the wiser.

The doctor could have a stranger write several names of persons living or dead, relatives, friends, etc., in a haphazard way, and he could successfully point out or have the "spirits" point out the living from the dead and deliver “spirit messages”!

You will learn the secret behind Dr. Schoeelingers feat to contact dead people. A man who claimed that “his mission on this earth was to absolutely prove to humanity the immortality of the soul.”
